Frequently Asked Questions
I know starting therapy can feel like a big step. You might be wondering what it’s like, who I work with, or even if you’ll feel comfortable here. This page is meant to give you a feel for how I work and answer a few of the most common questions.
And if your question isn’t listed? Reach out — I’d love to hear from you.
What do you specialize in?
I specialize in grief and trauma — especially when they overlap. I also support clients navigating chronic illness, women’s issues, mood difficulties (like depression), and anxiety. For more information about my specialization areas, please visit the therapy tab.
Who do you work with?
I see children, teens, and adults of all ages. While I have training in child-focused modalities like play therapy and sandtray, I feel I do my passion lies with teenagers through young adults (14 - 45).
Do you take insurance?
Yes, through Red Bird Mental Health. I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Geisinger (commercial), and United Healthcare. I do not accept Medicare or Medicaid at this time. We may be able to take other types of insurance. Self-pay is also an option.
Please visit the RBMH website or call for more information.
Can I work with you if I’m not in Pennsylvania?
Therapy is only available for PA residents. If you live elsewhere, you’re still welcome to connect through my writing, workshops, support, and grief education resources.
What’s the difference between therapy and your other offerings?
Therapy is a licensed clinical service available only to Pennsylvania residents. In psychotherapy, we can work more deeply with your history, trauma, and mental health needs in an ongoing, individualized way.
My other offerings — such as workshops, grief circles, or educational resources — are not therapy. They are supportive, community-based, and focused on education, reflection, and connection. These offerings are open to anyone over the age of 18, regardless of where you live, and can be a meaningful addition to (but not a replacement for) therapy.
